Manuscript Assessments with Irina Dunn
16 October 2021 | 9:00 am - 4:30 pm
Please note: there will be 6 x 55 minute manuscript assessments available with Irina Dunn on Saturday 16 October between 9am and 4.30pm. You can select your preferred time slot via Regfox.
Manuscript assessor, editor and agent Irina Dunn is offering manuscript assessments during the 2021 HNSA conference. These are 55 minute one-on-one face-to-face (via Zoom) sessions in which Irina will provide detailed feedback on the first 1,500 words of your manuscript.
It is important you provide the first 1,500 words of your manuscript because this is what publishers read to get an idea of how you “hook” the reader in to your manuscript.
The session will focus on your writing and cover an assessment of your style, genre, characterisation, tone, narrative flow, ways to improve your opening page, the marketability of your manuscript, and suggestions for targeting the right Australian publishers, as well as answering any queries you may have.
After this session, you will know exactly how to move forward with your manuscript.
Please mark your submission for assessment as ‘HNSA Manuscript Assessment 2021’ in the subject line to email@example.com by 10 October 2021.
Include the following:
- Cover sheet with your name, contact details, book title and genre of the work
- First 1,500 words of your manuscript in Times New Roman 12 point with 1.5 spacing
- 50-word bio
- 50-word synopsis
- Word length of manuscript if known.
*HNSA reserves the right to refund your money and allocate your place to the next person in the waiting list if the deadline is not met.

“Irina Dunn’s diligence, editing eye for detail, and literary knowledge has enabled many years of research and dreaming become a reality. Irina has been an inspiration that I could accomplish my dream by encouraging and supporting my aspirations with a belief my work was worthy to appear in print. Irina has a comprehensive understanding of the publishing world and through this knowledge, she found me a publisher, who also has faith in my ability to tell a story. I cannot thank Irina enough for her care in promoting my endeavours, by helping me to find through publication, an audience of readers. For other up and coming authors, I recommend Irina Dunn, not only for her editing skills, but for her generosity, professionalism, and determination to get a manuscript to her long list of publishers.” ~ Helen Rayson-Hill, Eleanor of Aquitaine, the Firebrand Queen (Interactive Press 2020)
