Conferences & events

The HNSA hosts a major conference for historical fiction readers and writers every two years.

After long deliberation, the HNSA committee has decided to ‘go virtual’ for our HNSA 2021 conference. Stay tuned for news about the program and the start of early bird registration. We have some ideas up our sleeve to ensure our community of historical fiction fans will have fun connecting across the ether on 22-24 October 2021.

Keep in touch on Twitter or Facebook, and subscribe to our newsletter for updates on our next conference and the ARA Historical Novel Prize.

You can also subscribe to our podcast, Imagining the Past. We often share recordings from previous conferences and events this way.

Local chapters also run events including author talks, social gatherings and reader events.

Join us on the HNSA Facebook Group where you can participate in all our discussions about historical fiction, new books, writing tips and more.

You can read more about historical fiction and the people who write it on News & Interviews.
