Parallel Narratives: Intertwining Multiple Stories in Historical Fiction with Ella Carey

Flitting between different storylines creates intrigue and anticipation in your readers, and allows you to look at past events from multiple perspectives. But how do you braid narratives together so that they link up to reveal the broader picture? What makes a reader engage with more than one story, character and setting at one time? Join Ella Carey, international bestselling author of eight multiple storyline historical fiction novels, to discover the myriad ways you can utilise this intriguing method of storytelling in your work. There is so much more potential in connected storylines than simply discovering a hidden treasure in your grandmother’s closet…In this workshop, we will take an in-depth look at entwining story structures, explore ways of connecting characters, linking theme, language, imagery, setting, and developing multiple individual character arcs. Learn about the ways in which the parallel narrative can be used to ignite the interest of your readers, and to give them a hunger to find out what happens next.

This workshop will not be recorded.
