After 11 years studying and working in New York, Dallas and Hong Kong, Scott returned to Australia in 1994 to pursue his own business interests. He became a partner in Lindfield Bookshop and took over full ownership in 1999, opening Lindfield Children’s Bookshop in 2005. The two shops were amalgamated under one roof in its expanded and refitted location in 2008. Sadly, due to lease issues, the bookshop closed at the end of August.
Scott always emphasized personal service with his customers as a point of distinction from chain and discount bookstores. To that end, he produced regular newsletters, held numerous author programs and V.I.P. shopper evenings as well as organizing school author events and book-fairs.
Passionate about books, Scott is a Past President of the Australian Bookseller’s Association (NSW) and is on the organizing committee for the Sydney Jewish Writer’s Festival. When not reading, he is entrenched in genealogical research and writing the odd short-story.
