2019 Venue and transport

The 2019 conference will be held in the EA building, at Western Sydney University, Parramatta (South) Campus, cnr James Ruse Drive & Victoria Rd, Rydalmere. We thank WSU’s Writing & Society Research Centre for hosting the conference this year.

Take special note: Head for the south campus (closest to the river).

Look for the EA building for the weekend conference.

Look for the EZ building for the Friday Craft & Publishing program (including registration for the manuscript assessments and Research and Writing masterclass.) This is also known as the Old Orphan School.

See the program for details of buildings and rooms.

Public transport is a great way to get to Parramatta campus (South) and you have several options. Use the NSW Transport Trip Planner for train and bus routes:

  • The train lines to Parramatta are Sydney Trains T1 Western Line, T2 Inner West & Leppington, and T5 Cumberland Line services; and NSW TrainLink Blue Mountains Line
  • Parramatta campus (South) is a five minute walk from the Victoria Road bus stop.
  • The closest train station is Rydalmere train station but it’s not a major stop and may be bypassed, so check before departure
  • You can take the train to Parramatta station and then it’s a 5 minute bus ride on the 525 and the M52 depart from bus stand A3 (Parramatta station, Argyle St).

You can catch the free campus shuttle bus from Parramatta North City campus 169 Macquarie St, (cnr of Smith and Macquarie – Parramatta station is along from Smith St) that arrives in front of the EA building on WSU South Campus. It leaves every 20 minutes on weekdays from 6.50 am to 10.50 pm, and every 30 mins on Saturday 7.30-5.30pm.

If you travel by car, Pay and Display one-day car parking permits can be purchased from the permit machines on campus for $9. Conference attendees can park in any of the yellow or blue car-spots on campus. People with disability permits on their cars can park in any parking spot on campus, free.

The closest visitor parking for our rooms in buildings EA and EZ (Female Orphan School) is P16 and P1.

Disabled parking is available in P6 (closest for EA) and P11 (closest to EZ Female Orphan School).

There is a bicycle path running along the Parramatta River on the campus side. On-campus bike parking is available.
