Workshop: Parallel Narratives & Page Turners with Kayte Nunn
1 July 2023 | 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Grabbing and holding your readers’ attention has never been more important and one means by which historical fiction can successfully do this is via a parallel narrative structure. It’s also a brilliant way to infuse your novel with page-turning mystery and suspense. International bestselling author, Kayte Nunn, who has written five novels with a parallel narrative structure, reveals techniques for writing propulsive fiction within two or more timelines, including how to set up and maintain tension, overcome pacing issues, and create multiple characters that the reader will care about. She examines ways in which to connect your timelines so that the individual stories resonate, how to avoid getting bogged down in backstory, and how to nail point of view, tone and dialogue.
This workshop includes a 15-minute break and several practical exercises.
This workshop will not be recorded.
